How do we become active? The answer is by doing something you’re already doing daily i.e walking. Actually, in order to lose/maintain weight, the least you could is to insert an hour a day of activity in your lifestyle.
Walking is easy but to do walking an hour a day is not that easy for somebody else. If you have a child who you send to school every day with a car, why not take the initiative to walk to school with her/him.
In my case, I used to follow my neighbor who drives her son to school everyday but decided to stop following her because walking is good for me and my daughter. The distance to my daughter’s school is only 15 minutes one way which will give me a good 30 minutes (return journey) walking exercise daily except Saturday and Sunday. Sometimes, I will take a longer route on my way back which will make 25 minutes and that is 40 minutes return journey.
So I get a total of 1 hr – 1.5 hrs daily for sending my daughter to school in the morning and picking her up again in the afternoon. I couldn’t say no I can’t go because this is a must so it’s a good motivation!
I have to tell you the truth, ever since I started walking my daughter to school, I could feel my muffin top is slowly decreasing and the stretchable jeans which I have stopped using a few months ago is now back in my closet as it fits me now without feeling uncomfortable. So, people, walk more and you will feel good about yourself because walking is effective in reducing your weight. You won’t see the scale going down so fast but you will feel it by wearing your old clothes which you thought you will never wear again.
This is the kind of exercise that will lasts with great result. Since the summer holiday is soon approaching, I would have to think of another way to keep on walking, otherwise my weight will creep back again. Another option is to use the bicycle, 30 minutes a day and the rest I will probably burn my calories by doing house chores.

Now.. I can smile really big because now I am the proud owner of Skechers Shape-Ups.
DH bought it for me a day after I blogged about it here and the next day I told him I should get this particular shoes as the ones I had was too old and that my birthday is approaching.
Didn’t know which one actually made him bought it for me but it doesn’t matter because it’s not important anyway so.. here’s my own review with this shoes.
I wanted to buy the Mary Jane type but DH was strongly against it. I had to give in as I believe in his taste.. my own point of view is only because it is easier to wear but DH told me that it’s ugly looking. :S So I got myself this dark blue color.
The best part about wearing these pair of shape ups is the kinetic wedge, it’s an ultra soft foam which absorbs shock while exercising core muscles which has an effect of walking on sands, giving a comfy feeling.
At first few steps, you get a bit wobbly but after a while it gets comfortable and I felt like I am standing tall and straight.
One thing to note, as you walk further, you will feel a tension on the calves area and thighs.
I guess this is the “Shape-Ups” doing its work out. So I give this shoes two (2) thumbs up for being so comfy however, a bit bulky when you look at it from the top but still it’s cute and I love wearing it.
When you buy this pair of Skechers Shape-Ups, it will come together with a DVD and a booklet so make sure you have them when you buy.
Ahhh… no more nightmares.
PS: Sorry for writing in short sentences.. as I find that it is easier to read that way.
