<p>Ever wonder why you keep on piling your weight every year? This could be your sedentary (less movement/couch potato) lifestyle. </p>
<p>Worry not, there are of course fun ways to lose weight. If you haven&#8217;t tried one or any of them, it&#8217;s time to do so and you will never think losing weight is boring and hard to maintain.</p>
<p>* Buy a dog and walk your dog every day. You might think why should I buy a dog if I can go out and walk on my own? Well, the thing is when lazy days got into you, you will tend to skip going out and think you can postpone it to the next day. BUT if you have a dog, you have no choice but to bring the dog out to do its business because you don&#8217;t want to have dog poo and pee inside your home. Please don&#8217;t think that having a garden is enough for a dog to roam around and do its business, by all means walk your dog and enjoy the active lifestyle.  </p>
<p>* Clean and vacuum your house every day, of course you don&#8217;t have to do it for hours but make at least 30 minutes a day and it will make all the difference.</p>
<p>* If cleaning is not your favorite and you live in a high rise apartment, skip the elevator and use the steps, your hips will reduce and you will have a firm butt. Do this all the time and daily!</p>
<p>* Get active into sports. Find a hobby sport, tennis, badminton or sign up for a gym membership. </p>
<p>* Go for a weekly hiking. Enjoy the beautiful mountain scenery after going through long walks, don&#8217;t you just love the sound of nature. </p>

<p>I always ask myself if I am drinking enough water. Actually, we tend to ignore that drinking at least 8 glasses of water per day is very important. </p>
<p>Sometimes, it&#8217;s the little things that counts in weight loss. Yes, consider water. Water has so many goodness and one of it is that it cleanse our internal body. If you have a yellow/orangey urine that is a sign that you should drink more water. Water also reduces appetite thus it is advisable to drink water whenever you feel hungry so that you will feel full faster and this is why water is always connected with weight loss.</p>
<p>So, how do we remind ourselves to drink enough water or as recommended at 8 glasses of water daily?  The most effective is to use a jar and put it next beside you. If you sit in front of the computer, put it on the table next to your computer so that it will remind you to drink the water and make it a habit to empty the jar. </p>
<p>I have this kind of jar which has a measurement of 1 liter, I will make sure that I drink 2 jars (2 liters) a day and that is more than sufficient to hydrate my body fluid. </p>

<p>How do we become active? The answer is by doing something you&#8217;re already doing daily i.e walking. Actually, in order to lose/maintain weight, the least you could is to insert an hour a day of activity in your lifestyle.</p>
<p>Walking is easy but to do walking an hour a day is not that easy for somebody else.  If you have a child who you send to school every day with a car, why not take the initiative to walk to school with her/him.  </p>
<p>In my case, I used to follow my neighbor who drives her son to school everyday but decided to stop following her because walking is good for me and my daughter. The distance to my daughter&#8217;s school is only 15 minutes one way which will give me a good 30 minutes (return journey) walking exercise daily except Saturday and Sunday. Sometimes, I will take a longer route on my way back which will make 25 minutes and that is 40 minutes return journey.  </p>
<p>So I get a total of 1 hr &#8211; 1.5 hrs daily for sending my daughter to school in the morning and picking her up again in the afternoon. I couldn&#8217;t say no I can&#8217;t go because this is a must so it&#8217;s a good motivation!</p>
<p>I have to tell you the truth, ever since I started walking my daughter to school, I could feel my muffin top is slowly decreasing and the stretchable jeans which I have stopped using a few months ago is now back in my closet as it fits me now without feeling uncomfortable. So, people, walk more and you will feel good about yourself because walking is effective in reducing your weight. You won&#8217;t see the scale going down so fast but you will feel it by wearing your old clothes which you thought you will never wear again.</p>
<p>This is the kind of exercise that will lasts with great result.  Since the summer holiday is soon approaching, I would have to think of another way to keep on walking, otherwise my weight will creep back again.  Another option is to use the bicycle, 30 minutes a day and the rest I will probably burn my calories by doing house chores.</p>

<p>I know food is difficult to resist but it&#8217;s also not easy to lose weight so better reduce food intake and control your eating so that your waist will not enlarge or expand or make it even worst.</p>

I know some of us especially women are desperate to lose weight and probably have tried so many diet pills, diets and other slimming programs but to no avail. The fats just don&#8217;t go away. What is wrong here, you asked? The only way to losing weight is to know the basics of what actually works to lose weight. </p>
<p>You&#8217;ve probably heard of them before but I will post them again here.</p>
<p>1. Losing weight is all about being honest to yourself. You can&#8217;t expect to eat chocolates in your room and expect to lose the muffin tops on your waist.</p>
<p>2.  Cutting down on sugar. This is the most important thing to remember about losing weight.  Almost all that we eat contains sugar, even carbohydrate contains sugar, if we could cut out our sugar consumption that would help in your losing weight goal. You don&#8217;t have to cut sugar abruptly but first try to reduce the intake from 2 teaspoons to 1. Once you get used to the taste, you can cut back sugar altogether. If you love eating rice, try to just have one serving of rice and eat more vegetables, which will help you to avoid getting another second round/serving.</p>
<p>3. Reduce fats or oils in your cooking. I should say this is the culprit! Imagine the steak and all! Yes, again self control. I know it&#8217;s  hard but think of the jeans you&#8217;ve been wanting to put on.</p>
<p>4. Eat more vegetables and fruits. Not only they are nutritional, they taste great too with the right dressing (use low fat) and yoghurt. In fact, you shouldn&#8217;t worry if you consume more than you should because these won&#8217;t make you fat but gives you a feeling of fullness and more alert.</p>
<p>5. Drink at least 8 glasses of water a day. I know this is too overrated but should we argue&#8211; furthermore water is always free. Forget about anything with zero or light you see on labels, water is always the best option, if you want more zing or zest to your water, add lemon &#8211; it&#8217;s a very refreshing drink and flush out toxins in your urine. Think of it as an internal body cleanser. </p>
<p>6. If you follow steps 1-5, then you&#8217;re on your successful goal to losing weight slowly but surely, BUT if you add some movement in your lifestyle, with something so easy as taking a walk for 30 mins a day, you could say goodbye to muffin tops! In fact, why should we even complain when you get a lot of goodness out of walking, we do it everyday anyway, adding extra half and hour is more than enough to keep the weight away.</p>
<p>7. Have enough sleep, if you are like me who can&#8217;t sleep as early as 11.00 pm or just before midnight, then try having a nap in the afternoon. It&#8217;s refreshing and good for the brain. Getting enough sleep, keeps you more alert and energized.</p>
<p>8. Read labels on every food you buy to know how much calories per saving.  Use per cup measurement so you don&#8217;t over stuff yourself especially food that contains high fat density. Nuts are good for you but limit yourself to only 1/2 cup per serving.  Remember &#8211; self control! <a href="http://howtoreduceweight.com/how-you-should-eat/">See portion control</a>.</p>
<p>9. Get some motivation, it is always easy to lose weight when you and your spouse wanted to lose weight together instead of just you- if your spouse does not worry about his weight, ask a girlfriend/relative/your mom- anyone &#8211; I know most women are very body conscious.  </p>
<p>10. Last but not least, reward yourself. Yes, who doesn&#8217;t love getting a reward especially when you&#8217;ve manage to resist all the eating temptations, i.e no cakes, no chocolates for a whole week! Good, now reward or treat yourself once a week to something you really love, get that refreshing body massage you&#8217;ve ever wanted or have a slice of cake (but then again, DO NOT OVEREAT!) One whole week without those sweet stuff is hard enough so you really deserve it! </p>

<p>I know there a lot of people out there who are facing this problem.</p>
<p>Though we can&#8217;t blame (some) of them because the most answer given is due to the nature of their job (and hopefully being lazy is not your answer) so how will you still be able to be losing weight if you fall into this category?</p>

<p>6. If you really can&#8217;t follow tips no. 4, the next time you go shopping for groceries, do not buy chocolate, cake or any sweet stuff, grab the fruits instead. Remember, if you don&#8217;t have them at home, you won&#8217;t eat them.</p>
<p>7. Divide your food into two parts. If you have a big plate of food for lunch, just eat the half portion and eat the other portion for dinner.</p>

<p>Lose weight? I know.. I know. You&#8217;ve heard it many times before but probably some of the tips given below differs from what you&#8217;ve heard or read. Losing weight is hard work but some of the tips given below did work for me so I am sharing them with you. As time progresses, I will add more tips in this post so expect for it to be updated as soon I have new tips.</p>
<p>1. If you are in a bakery shop &#8211; take only one piece of whatever kind of cake or bread you wanted to eat for that day and make sure you eat after 4 hrs for your next meal and do the whole process again &#8211; 1 piece or 1 cup of food every time you eat.</p>
<p>2. Drink water in between meals, this will help with you to feel full. Remember, eat often and eat in small portion.</p>
<p>3. Use a smaller plate, sometimes your eyes do trick with the way you eat.  Using a smaller plate makes you think that you have a lot of food on your plate.</p>
<p>4. Chew your food slowly, eating slowly will prevent you from taking a second helping. Enjoy your food!</p>
<p>5. Exercise as early as you can, the best time is in the morning or before afternoon. The reason behind this is to avoid having other last minute engagements that you may have later in the day thus will stop you from doing an exercise for that day.  30 minutes is good enough, remember, lose weight is what you are aiming for!</p>
<p>6. Snack by all means but grab nutritious snack! An apple or a cup of grapes is good.</p>
<p>7. Use olive oil instead of other cooking oil.</p>
<p>8. Forget the remote control, think way back in the 70&#8242;s. If you need to switch channel, stand up and walk to the TV and change the channel. I know this might sound stupid but a bit of movements is better than no movement at all.</p>
<p>9. House chores &#8211; make it a fun chore. Switch on the radio and move with the tune. Great body workout!</p>
<p>10. Throw your rubbish daily even if it&#8217;s half full.</p>
<p>11. Try to stretch your body whenever you remember. This is good for toning the muscles.</p>
<p>Remember, we shouldn&#8217;t treat trying to lose weight as a drag but try to enjoy doing it too!  </p>

<p>I have been doing my exercise 5 days in a row and all I can say is that it&#8217;s doable. In fact, I am loving it. I can see the changes too especially the midriff area and buttocks. Yes, all you need is a crosstrainer. No need to go to the gym and pay around €50 a month.<br />

What I love about the Crosstrainer:<br />
1. You can store it in the living room and it won&#8217;t take a lot of space.  You can place it in front of the TV while doing your training because it&#8217;s not loud.</p>
<p>2. You can adjust the level of your training. The higher the level you use, the more effective your training will be and the more calories you will burn. You can run on it or just make a slow pace. Better than a threadmill in my opinion. </p>
<p>3. A crosstrainer is not straining compared to running. No shoes needed as socks are more than sufficient. There is no pain on your lower body.</p>
<p>4. You only need between 45 mins to 1 hr to make a great workout/training. </p>
<p>Crosstrainers are really addictive once you start and there is no such thing as training more makes you lazy in fact it has the opposite impact. The more you train, the more you get addicted to it especially when you see how many calories you burn and that&#8217;s the real motivation.</p>
<p>So what have you done to your body lately? Have you moved a lot. WE tend to say that we have no time to do workout but we do have enough time to sit hours in front of the computer or TV. Just try to slot at least 45 minutes daily to do your workout and you will feel more energize and your body will thank you as well as your arteries.</p>

<p>How many times have you heard during a conversation when someone tell you that she/he is on a diet? What is the first thing you see when these people say so? Physically, they are not thin and secondly.. you&#8217;ve heard them say it like a million times already and the thing is they still look the same (on the heavy side) since like the first time you saw them. </p>
<p>Well.. I can&#8217;t say that dieting is all bad but actually it does help in your weight management but NOT in the long run. You may see a person who diets for a month and they are looking so thin and the next month you see them gaining weight AGAIN. The truth is there is no long term result in dieting. The best is to learn how to lose weight slowly and it is something which you can do for the rest of your life. Lifestyle weight loss.. I would call it. Eat less and in moderation, do some cardio exercises, the best is to go for a daily walk and spend at least 30mins &#8211; 1 hr. </p>
<p>Dieting by depriving yourself to eat is not only unhealthy to your body but will just make you more depress because you will not see an effective result, the depression itself will make your dieting into a yo-yo diet. You lose it and it will come back again so there is no point.<br />
Save yourself from this kind of losing weight. Controlled food portion is a good way, eating healthy and stay happy.</p>
<p>One more important thing to lose weight is to be discipline. If you set a goal to yourself, reach for it and at the end of the day, it will all be worth it.</p>
